The title of World Car of the Year, 2021 edition, was awarded to Volkswagen ID 4 all-electric SUV. VW ID.4 was in the final along with Honda e and Toyota Yaris. The title marks a huge success for the entire ID electric cars range.

The Volkswagen ID.4 received 798 points, surpassing Honda e, which received 742 points, and Toyota Yaris, with 732 points. The jury praised the car's zero-emission driving and the many innovative details of ID.4. This applies to the head-up display with an augmented reality display. It projects driving information such as directional arrows from the navigation system's route guidance onto the windshield.

Honda e won World Urban Car, Mercedes-Benz S-Class won the World Luxury Car category, Porsche 911 Turbo was named World Performance Car and the new Land Rover Defender won the World Car Design of the Year category.

The designers have created an SUV that has a powerful and confident appearance on the road, combining a robust SUV character with advanced aerodynamics and an air resistance coefficient of only 0.28 CW. Just like the compact Volkswagen ID.3, the Volkswagen ID.4 symbolizes the start of a new era in mobility.

Volkswagen ID.4 is the first 100% electric SUV from Volkswagen and at the same time the brand's first electric car for all global markets. The exterior of the ID.4 has powerful proportions and seems extremely modern. The stylish, fluid design is inspired by nature and gives the car excellent aerodynamics. Light-LED-Matrix headlights intelligently adapt the high beam to any driving situation.

Light alloy wheels up to 21-inch support the car's sporty and robust character. ID.4 has roof rails and can be equipped with an electrically operated towbar. Volkswagen ID.4 1st Max has a panoramic glass roof and an electrically operated tailgate. The platform for ID.4 gives the car a long wheelbase. It makes the cabin just as spacious as in a conventional SUV.

Infotainment system with 12 ”touch screen, voice control and ID. Light is standard. As an option, an augmented reality head-up display is available.

The luggage compartment holds 543 litres and can be expanded to 1,575 litres. Volkswagen ID.4 1st Max is equipped with an electrically operated tailgate that has the "Easy Open & Close" function. In addition, a luggage net, a net partition and a variable luggage compartment bottom are available. With the optional towbar, the Volkswagen ID.4 electric SUV can tow trailers up to 1,000 kg.

The electric SUV from Volkswagen is an all-rounder that can also handle long distances superbly. Volkswagen ID.4 1st models are equipped with a 77 kWh battery that provides a usable range of up to 520 km. With a DC lightning charger, Volkswagen ID.4 can be charged for the next 320 km in just 30 min.

VW ID.4 does not have an all-wheel-drive but is powered by the rear axle and the 204 hp electric motor which guarantee a print from 0 to 100 km / h in 8.5 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 160 km / h.

With seven equipment variants, three engines and two battery sizes, Volkswagen ID.4 electric SUV appeals to a wide range of car buyers, and even the cheapest variant is very well-equipped.
