The president of the acting Government and the only candidate for re-election, Francina Armengol (President of the Balearic Islands), has promised in her inaugural speech tax incentives for those who buy electric cars instead of polluting vehicles.

The Balearic socialist leader has ensured that the PSIB coalition executive with Podemos and MES per Mallorca will work to achieve "zero waste islands and maximum recycling", encourage investment in renewable energy for self-consumption and electricity production with solar panels and will expand the recharging network for electric vehicles.

The candidate, for whom the preservation of the environment and the fight against climate change is "the most important of all" challenges of the archipelago, has also announced the expansion of the natural parks of S'Albufera de Mallorca and Llevant and the creation of a new marine reserve in the Tramuntana.

"We will demand from the State the competences of coastal management and that it prohibits oil prospecting in the Mediterranean, as we have agreed with Unidas Podemos and MÉS per Mallorca," Armengol detailed.
