Mazda MX-30 is the first 100% electric car launched by the Japanese car manufacturer Mazda. MX-30 had its world premiere on October 23, 2019, at the Tokyo Motor Show. The car has a starting price of 28,487 euros without VAT. The car has a real range of about 200 km, provided by a 35.5 kWh Lithium-ion battery, cooled with liquid.

Mazda points out that the MX-30 is a car with a battery, not a battery with wheels. The MX-30 electric SUV will offer a natural driving sensation, with a fast response of acceleration, cornering and braking. This is achieved through the innovative technical approaches in the e-SKYACTIV package. This includes integrating the battery into the vehicle body structure, which improves the overall rigidity of the body and ensures direct driving behaviour.

The model will have a 3-year warranty within 100,000 km, while the battery warranty will be 8 years within 160,000 km. The Mazda MX-30 can already be pre-ordered at all Mazda dealers and it is estimated that the first units will be delivered in the second half of 2020.

Mazda MX-30 SUV has an electric motor with 105 kW (143 hp) and torque of 265 Nm. The car has a liquid-cooled battery and a real average range of about 200 km, being decent for urban travel. The battery can be charged to 6.6 kW AC outlets, but also supports fast charging to outlets (up to 50 kW). Fast charging takes about 40 minutes to charge its battery to 80%.

The interior is generous, given the compact crossover body - similar to the Mazda CX-30 SUV. The list of standard features is above the market average at this price level (33,900 euros with VAT). The interior uses eco-friendly materials and much of the real leather is replaced with a vegan alternative.

Given the importance of sound for the drivers, Mazda engineers have created an electronic sound system inside the Mazda MX-30, which is synchronized with engine torque in terms of sound frequency and pressure.

"In addition to the electrification technologies that we will introduce in our entire portfolio, we as a smaller manufacturer are committed to the development of an electric car that perfectly meets the requirements of a second car. Many media representatives who have already tested our vehicle also confirm that the Mazda MX-30 is one of the few electric cars to drive like a conventionally powered vehicle. Because driving fun is at the heart of every Mazda, and our electric cars are no exception. " says Yasuhiro Aoyama, President and CEO of Mazda Motor Europe.
