Kia has finally revealed the pricing and specifications for its 2024 EV6, the brand's first dedicated electric vehicle and a potential game-changer in the crossover segment. The EV6 is based on the E-GMP platform, which it shares with its sister company Hyundai and its Ioniq 5. The EV6 promises to deliver impressive performance, range, technology, and design, all at a competitive price point.
What's New for 2024?
The EV6 is an all-new model for Kia, marking its entry into the electric vehicle market with a bang. The EV6 is not just a conventional crossover with an electric powertrain but a completely new vehicle that showcases Kia's new design language, called Opposites United. The Kia EV6 features a sleek and futuristic exterior, with a low and wide stance, a distinctive tiger-nose grille, slim LED headlights and taillights, and a sloping roofline that ends in a spoiler. The EV6 also has some unique details, such as the flush door handles, the cross-car rear light bar, and the frunk (front trunk) that offers additional storage space.
The EV6's interior is equally modern and minimalist, with a spacious and airy cabin that can accommodate up to five passengers. The EV6 boasts a dual-screen dashboard consisting of a 12-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The EV6 also offers a range of advanced features, such as a head-up display with augmented reality, a Meridian premium sound system, a panoramic sunroof, a heat pump system that optimizes the battery efficiency in cold weather, and a vehicle-to-load (V2L) function that allows the EV6 to supply up to 3.6 kW of power to external devices or even another electric vehicle.
The EV6's performance is equally impressive, as it offers two battery options (58 kWh and 77.4 kWh) and three powertrain configurations (RWD, AWD, and GT). The RWD models have a single electric motor on the rear axle, while the AWD models have an additional motor on the front axle. The GT models are the most powerful, with a dual-motor setup that produces up to 576 horsepower and 546 lb-ft of torque. The Kia EV6 GT models can also accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 160 mph.
The EV6's range is also impressive, as it can travel up to 300 miles on a single charge with the 77.4 kWh battery and the RWD configuration. The EV6 also supports fast charging, as it can replenish up to 80% of its battery in just 18 minutes using a 350 kW charger. The EV6 also has a regenerative braking system that can recover up to 12% of its battery capacity by using the paddle shifters on the steering wheel.
The EV6's safety is also top-notch, as it comes with a comprehensive suite of driver-assistance features, such as forward collision-avoidance assist, blind-spot collision-avoidance assist, rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance assist, safe exit assist, smart cruise control, highway driving assist, lane following assist, driver attention warning, parking collision-avoidance assist, and more.
How Much Does It Cost?
The Kia EV6's pricing is one of its most attractive features, as it starts at just $40,665 for the base RWD model with the 58 kWh battery. The AWD model with the same battery costs $44,665, while the RWD model with the 77.4 kWh battery costs $45,665. The AWD model with the larger battery costs $49,665, while the top-of-the-line GT model costs $58,665. All prices include a $1,175 destination charge.
The EV6 is also eligible for a federal tax credit of up to $7,500, as well as state and local incentives depending on the location. Kia also offers a special introductory offer for the first 1,500 customers who reserve an EV6 online before November 30, 2023. These customers will receive an exclusive package that includes free maintenance for two years or 20,000 miles, free charging for one year at Electrify America stations, and an Apple Watch Series 7 or an iPhone 13 Pro.

When Will It Be Available?
The EV6 is expected to arrive in the US market in the first quarter of 2024, with the GT model following in the second quarter. The EV6 will be available in four trim levels: EV6, EV6 GT-Line, EV6 GT, and EV6 First Edition. The EV6 First Edition is a limited-edition model that will only be offered to the first 1,500 customers who reserve it online. The EV6 First Edition will have some exclusive features, such as a matte gray paint, a dark green interior, a dual-motor AWD system, a 77.4 kWh battery, a 14-speaker Meridian sound system, an illuminated grille, and a numbered badge.
The EV6 is expected to compete with other electric crossovers in the market, such as the Tesla Model Y, the Ford Mustang Mach-E, the Volkswagen ID.4, and the Chevrolet Bolt EUV. However, the EV6 has some advantages over its rivals, such as its fast charging capability, its V2L function, its spacious frunk, and its attractive pricing. The EV6 could also benefit from Kia's reputation for reliability, quality, and customer satisfaction.
The EV6 is more than just a new electric vehicle for Kia. It is a statement of Kia's vision for the future of mobility, where electric vehicles are not only eco-friendly but also fun, stylish, and smart. The EV6 is Kia's way of saying that it is ready to challenge the status quo and lead the way in the electric vehicle revolution. The EV6 is the electric crossover that could change everything.
