Some people think that electric motorcycles are boring because they cannot give the emotions that arise when driving an internal combustion engine. The electric motorcycle is without a loud exhaust, does not require changing gears, and its power increases almost linearly with increasing rpm since the maximum torque is realized immediately after the start.

The 2Electron company from Italy has developed an emulation system called McFly for e-motorcycles that can be used to simulate very different combustion engines in an e-motorcycle at the push of a button. Like a time machine, it allows you to go back in time and experience the sensations of driving a gasoline motorcycle of any year.

In a prototype called Emula, McFly technology, named after the main character from the Hollywood film “Back to the Future”, can represent three different drives: a 250 two-stroke engine with 58 hp, an 800 V2 with 77 hp and an inline four-cylinder with 600 cubic centimetres and 100 hp. It is enough to select the desired setting on the large touch screen, which acts as a dashboard, and the electric bike will begin to behave as if it was equipped with either of them.

By the time the model goes into production, 2Electron is going to expand this list. In theory, an electric motorcycle can simulate any model with an internal combustion engine by downloading the appropriate software.

Virtual gearshifts are controlled by familiar-looking clutch levers and gearboxes, providing realistic feedback as requested by the developer.

The McFly system controller is responsible for keeping all these systems in sync. McFly Core provides several operating modes that provide varying degrees of control automation. In addition, it allows customization of the motorcycle, virtual air filter, exhaust system and other details. Emula can ride like a regular electric bike, reaching speeds of up to 250 km / h. The electric motorcycle should weigh less than 200 kilograms.
